How SBI PO age eligibility works

The State Bank of India holds the Probationary Officer age bar firmly. Apart from the category relaxations set out above, there is no give — overshoot the window by a single day and you are out for that cycle.

The date that counts is the notification date (which varies year to year), not the day you submit the form or write the exam. Eligibility turns on your age as on that fixed cut-off.

Note: the age bars and rules may be revised with each notification. Treat this calculator as a fast estimate and confirm your eligibility against the official SBI PO notification.

Frequently asked questions

What is the SBI PO age limit?
General candidates must be 21 to 30 years as on the date the notification names. OBC add three years (up to 33) and SC/ST five years (up to 35).
Is it different from IBPS PO?
Yes — the general band is 21 to 30 for SBI PO versus 20 to 30 for IBPS PO. SBI PO sets the floor at 21, while IBPS PO lets 20-year-olds apply.
What qualification is required?
Any bachelor's degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent the Central Government recognises.
How many times can I attempt SBI PO?
There is no cap on attempts — you can apply year after year so long as you meet the age and qualification rules.
Is there an age relaxation?
Yes: three years for OBC (non-creamy layer), five for SC/ST and ten for PwBD over the general ceiling. J&K residents may get further relaxation under central norms.
Can final-year students apply?
Yes — final-year degree students are welcome, provided they hand in the final degree certificate by the date the offer letter or notification sets.
What is the photo size requirement?
A colour passport-size photo around 200x230 pixels and 20 to 50 KB in JPG, with the signature roughly 80x30 pixels and under 20 KB.
