Age is fixed as on the first day of the course commencement month. On qualification, you must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or be appearing for it — any stream works for the Army, but the Navy and Air Force require Physics and Mathematics at Class 12.
How NDA age eligibility works
The NDA & NA age bar is enforced to the letter, and — unlike most UPSC exams — it carries no category relaxation whatsoever. Fall outside the window by a single day and you are ruled out for that cycle.
The date that counts is the first day of the course commencement month, not the day you fill the form or write the exam. Your age on that fixed cut-off is what settles eligibility.
