How to use this marks calculator

Made with Indian school and college students in mind, the tool works one subject at a time: put in the name, the marks you scored and the maximum. It then totals everything and returns your aggregate percentage and equivalent CBSE grade on its own.

Adding subjects: tap "Add Subject" to append rows, up to ten altogether, and clear any row you no longer need with the ✕ button.

Board exams (CBSE/ICSE/State): fill in all 5 or 6 subjects. To mimic the Best-of-5 rule many colleges follow, just drop your weakest row before you calculate.

Competitive exam marks: papers such as UPSC Mains carry different maximums, so enter each paper's name with its own marks and maximum — the aggregate still works out accurately.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate total marks percentage?
Total up your marks, divide by the combined maximum and multiply by 100 — 450 out of 500 comes to 90%. The calculator runs this for you automatically.
How are grades calculated in CBSE?
The bands are A1 (91–100%), A2 (81–90%), B1 (71–80%), B2 (61–70%), C1 (51–60%), C2 (41–50%), D (33–40%) and E (below 33%, a fail).
What are the passing marks in CBSE?
Clearing CBSE Class 10 and 12 needs at least 33% in every subject and 33% in the aggregate.
How do I add more subjects?
Use the "Add Subject" button under the rows — you can go up to 10 subjects, and each row's ✕ button removes it.
Does this work for state board exams?
Absolutely — CBSE, ICSE, Maharashtra, UP, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu or any other board. Simply supply the marks and maximum for each subject.
What is a distinction in Indian exams?
Across most boards: Distinction = 75%+, First Division = 60–74%, Second Division = 45–59%, Third Division = 33–44% and a fail below 33%.
