SAARC has eight members: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Objectives and challenges
It aims to promote economic and regional integration, but progress has been slowed by political tensions among members. Decisions are taken unanimously.
